Got some time to spend in Seattle? Here’s a short list of my favorite places.
Pike Place Market
This must-see has been around since 1907. It’s a vibrant, real market full of fish, produce, meats, crafts, and flowers. Here are a few favorites within:
Food and Drink
- The Crumpet Shop. My go-to is the crumpet with butter, Marmite, and egg.
- Market Grill, for the best grilled salmon (or halibut) sandwich you’ll ever have.
- Matt’s in the Market. Consistently great, local food. Have a Bloody Mary made with Aquavit.
- Radiator Whiskey. The tots will cure what ails you.
- Sugo Hand Roll Bar. Try the lychee martini and as many rolls as you can handle.
Other Attractions
Downtown
- Seattle Central Library
- Founders Club at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, a sort-of speakeasy hidden behind a bookshelf.
- John Fluevog Shoes. Do you want to look damn good? Start here.
Lower Queen Anne
- Space Needle. Still a mandatory stop, even after 60+ years!
- Climate Pledge Arena. Catch a Kraken (NHL) or Storm (WNBA) game in the fanciest sports venue I’ve seen. You can watch hockey fights from the Moët Lounge—I’m serious.
